Review of Bills restaurant vegan wellington

Hi everyone

I recently went to Bills restaurant for lunch on a recent theatre trip to London. I knew Bills has a vegan menu and I believe it was a curry dish I had previous but this time they had the vegan wellington which I have not seen before so I thought I would give it a go.

It is the carrot, cashew nut and mushroom wellington with butter bean mash, broccoli and vegetable gravy. It was amazing, I loved it, it is pasty with a deep frilling of the carrot and mushroom, it was full of flavour, chunky and filling.

The broccoli was done well I am not sure if it was steamed but it was soft but not soggy and it had a crunch. The butter bean mash is a revelation, I am not overly keen on butter beans and so I have no idea what they had put in this mash but it was so creamy and tasty and just really moreish, I could have eaten a whole plate full.

My first impression with the gravy was that there wasn’t enough and there wasn’t quite but it was ok to cover the portion. It was yummy gravy though, thick and smooth but maybe just a bigger portion for those of us who are gravy obsessed.

I also decided to top this off with a cocktail which went perfectly this was the Raspberry and Rosehip Collins, yummy.

Have you got any good vegan restaurant recommendations? I would love to know.

Thanks for reading
